Mountain Bikes

A couple of years back I decided to purchase a new mountain bike in a bid to get fit and as a cheap method of transport into work. It worked out great and that first summer I rode many, many miles. Given that I’m a bit of a wuss, I joined a gym for the winter and restarted biking in earnest in April. In 2010 I took that GT to many of the major trail centres in the North East of England and also a few in Scotland.

With it’s V-Brakes, badly worn tyres and rattly bearings, it was time to upgrade, so I picked up a Revolution Triad 1.0. It’s Edinburgh Cycles own brand but comes with a “Specalized” frame (made in the same factory), RockShox Reba SL, Elixir 5’s and SRAM X7 / X9.  It was amazing the difference!

Work and then illness late in the year meant I didn’t get to use it as much as I’d like during the summer, but I used to get out regularly into Chopwell woods and picked up some lights from DealExtreme to help with night riding.

Oh, I should point out that whilst I really enjoy MTB XC riding, I’m useless at it. Really useless. I have reasonable fitness but lack pretty much all technical skill and would regularly end up with with new bruises, cuts, limps…

Anyway, some pictures:
